Is Joost the future of TV?

Techcrunch is reporting speculation that Joost is about to launch publicly in a few days time. I've been playing with the Beta for a while now, and have yet to find the channel(s) that would keep me going back for more. Maybe they just haven't bought the right rights yet. But the future of TV? I'm not yet convinced.

But one thing these serial entrepreneurs have got going for them is fantastic word of mouth/conversation marketing.

The steady drip drip drip of new Beta invites creates (yes, creates) a constant demand. They're totally desirable - to the point of being traded on Ebay. Until now, when they're being given away. Whether the product will live up to the hype we'll have to wait and see.

Antony Gormley and Hexstatic

I'm a huge Gormley fan. Ever since seeing various versions of Field for the British Isles/Europe years ago.

I really enjoyed "Critical Mass" and "Crosby Beach" is amazing.

Now his statues are going up all over London and getting plenty of good coverage for the SBC and Hayward (former clients of mine and at work). Tonight's BBC 10pm news also used a snippet of Hexstatic's Perfect Bird song to introduce the art. A fine choice.

Barbecues and PR

So, Hill and Knowlton and the National Barbecue Association have parted company after only three months. My first thought was that maybe they couldn't quite get it started, but with hindsight, it's obvious. You play with fire. You get burned.
